The website for the men’s magazines GQ and Details men.style.com picks Maison Bouachon Les Rabassieres Cote du Rhone as one of the best wines under $15.  You can even rate the wine yourself on the site.

Of course, I believe it is #1.  :)

Wednesday night I went with my roommate, Francois, and some friends to MoMA for an exhibit event. Pipilloti Rist let us discover her world through a video projection in the MoMA: “Pour Your Body Out”.

We went in the sculptural sitting island which has been installed in the middle of the room. Leave your shoes at the entrance and welcome in a new world. Through slow and peaceful music we discovered the relationships between humans, animals and our natural environment. We had the sensation of being part of nature. Animals, humans, the nature and us were not different things, but only one thing together. It was like a dream, a representation of our imagination, where everything is wonderful and peaceful.

It was a very good experience in this fabulous museum…… wake up Nico!  It is time to come back to reality :-)

I had a wonderful question and comment from Sarah to the last post!  I wanted to share her idea for a Thanksgiving pairing.  It is a wonderful idea and, in fact, it could turn out to be your turkey’s best friend, besides the stuffing, of course.

Why not try a Rose wine for Thanksgiving?  I’m not talking about a White Zinfandel, which is sweeter. I am speaking about a dry rose : Maison Bouachon Tavel, for example.

This wine is made with white and red grape varieties which give a nice complexity of flavors. It has also a very nice structure, which is one of the reasons you could pair it very well with your trational turkey. The first sensation you may get when you taste this wine might be sweet.  Don’t be fooled.  This sweetness comes from all the fresh, red fruits (raspberry, red currant) which explode in your mouth. Mmmmm… Then the citrus fruits (pink grapefruits) bring a nice acidity.  It is a round and lovely wine with a long finish of sweet spices.

Rose on your table blends the traditional (Thanksgiving dish) and the modern (Maison Bouachon Tavel). That is the story of our life: history & future.  Now go taste it and enjoy!

In the Nov./Dec. issue of Cottage Living the 2006 Maison Bouachon Les Rabassieres Cote du Rhone is recommended as a great luxury holiday wine pick under $20.    I would agree!   Click on the name of the wine above and order some for your holiday table.

Ok the stars are in Hollywood as I saw on my recent trip there, but they can also travel. I can tell you during the Food & Wine Festival in San Diego, the Robert Skalli Pinot Noir was THE wine.

I think the wines from the Skalli Family Wines portfolio were the only French wines at the festival, which is very good. I really enjoyed my time at this festival, because I talked with a lot of the people, gave them information about the wines and about France.   I was joined by our CEO, Michaela Rodeno, in the middle picture below.  We shared our passion for the wine, very interesting.

People fell in love with the Robert Skalli Pinot Noir: ladies, men, young, old… everybody. They appreciated its notes of small black fuits, chocolate and liquorice.   This is a wine with nice complexity; an approachable wine from the South of France you could share with your friends and family.
