Traveling makes it very difficult to have a well-balanced diet.  If you ate everyday in restaurants and you did not practice sport (exercise), can you imagine the result at the end of the year?  Not good.   Even if it was just two pounds per week.

In order to remain dynamic and healthy, I exercise a minimum of two times for one hour per week (jogging or bicycling).   I have also practiced the sport of Judo for a long time, which keeps me in balance.

I start each morning with a good and heavy breakfast . For lunch I usually do not have much time to eat, so I often take a sandwich with me.  If I have time, I order a plate of pasta with a tomato sauce and sometimes a glass of wine from the South of France.   My dinner is very often a simple tomato salad or a plate of vegetables, followed by a cup of fruit. And sometimes I enjoy a glass of red wine, because I have time and I can appreciate my wine peacefully.

These are very simple things in my life but,  I think well-balanced & delicious food, nice wines and sport is a wonderful blend.  Don’t you?  How do you balance food and travel?  Any tips you can share with me?

How can anyone watch a movie on television in America? You have 5 minutes of advertisement every 15 minutes!!! If the movie is 2 hours long, does that mean you should stay in front of your screen during 2 hours and 35 minutes…. that is impossible for me!

In France,  you usually have 10 minutes advertising in the middle of the movie and that is it. I definitly prefer this system, because during this 10 minutes you can do other things and come back later to watch your movie. Here you have a part of the movie and an advertisment, then the movie and advertising again and again and again. Even sometime you do not know if that is the movie or the advertisment… Crazy.

Look at this!  These terrific wine bloggers in Boston did a blind tasting with our Robert Skalli Chardonnay.  And guess what!  Robert Skalli came in first.  And the chicken recipe looks great.  Read the blog to learn more.  http://www.vinoduo.com/

Where is Robert Skalli?24 Sep 2008 04:17 pm

Can you guess where this bottle of Robert Skalli wine is sitting?

   Good Luck!

Since Mr. Skalli got his chance to write on Nicolas’ blog, I decided it was time I did too.

Harvest in Languedoc goes pretty well. We had a terrible spring with lots of rain and cold temperatures but we have had good weather since the beginning of July with a lot of sun, cold nights and some brief rainfall.  Now, the mistral has started.  I know Nicolas wrote about the mistral in an early post.  This cold, heavy wind is allowing the berries to concentrate their flavors while staying dry and disease free.

So far, grape yields are quite low but quality is good, with high natural acidity, good flavours and good definition of fruit. We’ve just finished the rosé wines and will start bringing in the reds next week, which is late compare to average vintages.

More news to come after the reds…
